The NODOS team formed by Pablo KATZ, Matías Beccar Varela and Ignacio Beccar Varela proposed a 10-storey building with a wooden structure on a concrete tutor for the new headquarters of the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires, winning the second prize in the international competition.

The construction of the first large-scale timber building in Argentina could be the starting point for the revival of a branch of its industry, the timber sector, which is lagging far behind but has enormous potential. Wooden construction is one of the most relevant answers to today’s global challenges and is already a prosperous reality in many countries.

Argentina’s vast geography and rich human resources provide the ideal conditions to make the timber industry and construction both a sustainable economic driver and a vehicle for social development.

Sebastián Hernandez M. (Stora Enso) acted as wood technology advisor.
